A win for family and life-saving research. 

Gina & Domenico have been Heart & Stroke Lottery supporters for 26 years:

“I had a mini stroke 15 years ago, and before that, my husband was very sick. He had two liver transplants at Toronto General, and then he had a stroke, so there was a lot of hospital time. When I noticed the Heart & Stroke Lottery booth at the hospital, I decided it would be a good time to buy.”

Gina adds: “We’re doing okay today, and that’s why we buy tickets when we receive a package in the mail – we want to contribute to research that helps people recover. Also, it gives you something to look forward to – I’ve won gift certificates before and even if it’s something small, it feels good to win!”

When she was told she’d won, Gina was wary: “When she asked for my address, I said ‘it’s on the ticket so you repeat it to me.’ That’s when I knew it was true! It was such a surprise – I was expecting another gift certificate!”

Along with continuing to play the lottery, Gina and Domenico will be sharing their winnings with five grandchildren – “we’re happy to help them with their futures, and they know that we’re also helping a really important cause.”
